Supporting a Life-Saving Surgery

The SM Shivarathre Charitable Trust extended financial assistance of ₹50,000 to support Ms. Preethi S in undergoing a complex orthopedic procedure — exchange plating for distal femur nonunion following massive bone defect reconstruction for osteosarcoma.

Preethi had previously undergone treatment for bone cancer in 2024, including chemotherapy and surgery, which placed significant financial strain on the family and created an urgent need for further medical support.

The surgery was successfully performed in May 2026 by Dr. Deepak G. Shivarathre at Fortis Hospital, Cunningham Road, Bangalore, where specialized care was provided. In a supportive gesture, the hospital also extended a discount on treatment costs, helping ease the financial burden.

The Trust’s timely contribution enabled Preethi to proceed with this critical procedure without delay, reinforcing its commitment to meaningful healthcare support.
